fond memories of sarah’s house 2 – window seat

March 3, 2012

There is no shortage of glamour shots of Sarah Richardson’s design projects, whether online or in print. Less seen are the construction and preliminary pictures. In the image below, we have just assembled and installed¬†a window seat. The wood window is sitting on a 2 x 4 curb. This will allow the casement hardware to be accessible once the cushions are in place.

    very nice ken!
you haven’t mentioned that the opening used to be a bay window which fought the style of the home architecturally. the new box style window opening worked better with the massing of the home, at the same time drawing massive amounts of light into the space. not to mention how beautiful the sapele was!

Hi Nathan. Were you involved in this project, too?

        hey ken,
yeah, i was responsible for the working/permit drawings for Sarah’s House 2. besides the interior design, the home needed numerous architectural and structural improvements. obviously, the majority of the actual design work was done by Sarah and her team, but this box window specifically was one of the design elements that i brought to the table. the old bay window just didn’t work.

Great design Nathan! We plan to feature some of the professionals that helped make this house a winner. Would love to have you on that list if you’re willing.
